Top 5 skin treatments

Skin is one of the most important organs of the body. As much as it is important, its integrity is sometimes compromised by some conditions. Whenever such a scenario arises, treatment has to be done with immediate effect or else, the organ is destroyed completely. There are many skin conditions which necessitates different treatments. The Top 5 skin treatments are discussed below.

Good skin maintenance: This is the most effective skin condition treatment based on the fact that most skin conditions are caused by poor skin maintenance. Maintaining the skin in a good condition is more of preventive measure because you are guaranteed that you will not get any skin condition. The major advantage of this method is it is cheap and easy. You should consider taking extra care for your skin to avoid any skin conditions and problems.

Creams and gels: most skin conditions can be treated with some creams and gels. These creams and gels can be bought over the counter from pharmacies and chemist stores. Some of them may work but some could make the skin condition worse.  To avoid such added problems, it is advisable to visit a skin specialist. Creams and gels are effective for most conditions for example skin rashes, warts, eczema and other common conditions.

Cryotherapy: this is a type of surgery in which the diseased skin cells are destroyed by freezing them with liquid nitrogen. In most cases, the liquid nitrogen is sprayed or applied topically on the diseased cells. The procedure maybe painful and necessitates the use of anaesthetics. This is done to make the procedure more comfortable to the patient. The process can be either successful or not when done the first time. If it does not work on the first time, the procedure is repeated several times until the diseased cells are healed.

Use of acids: The idea of using acids to treat skin problems and conditions has been used for a long time. Most acids can be used but you should be careful not to use very strong acids which can corrode the skin instead of using healing the diseased cells. The most commonly used acid is Salicylic acid. The major advantage of this acid is the fact that it is cheap and does not cause pain to the patient. Effectiveness of use of Salicylic acid is dependent on regularity and the time used. Medical professionals claim that Salicylic acid treatment is effective when used regularly over a relatively long time.

Surgery: this is a form of treatment in which the diseased cells of the skin are removed surgically. In this case, the specialist performs a minor surgery in which he cuts of and removes the diseased parts of the skin. This method is effective for some skin conditions but it is quite costly.

Medication: This is a type of treatment based on taking medication or getting medical injections. Medication is effective for most of the skin conditions especially when the cause of the skin condition is well known. If medications fail, use of other methods is advocated for example laser treatment and surgery.

These are some of the top 5 skin treatments used today. There are many more which can also be used. Effectiveness of the treatment is dependent on the type of skin condition. Varying conditions dictate use of different treatment methods. All in all, the fact is that most skin conditions and problems can be treated.
